Es w\u00e4re der 100. Rekord seiner gleichnamigen Firma gewesen, und Abarth konnte der Versuchung einfach nicht widerstehen, ihn pers\u00f6nlich aufzustellen: Er hielt eine extrem strenge Di\u00e4t ein &#8211; manche sagen, er lebte nur von \u00c4pfeln -, um 30 Kilogramm abzunehmen, damit er ins Cockpit passte und das Fahrzeug w\u00e4hrend des Rennens nicht unn\u00f6tig an Gewicht zunahm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Im Oktober 1965 stellte der Abarth 1000 Monoposto Record Classe G &#8211; angetrieben von einem 1-Liter-Doppelnockenwellenmotor &#8211; den Rekord f\u00fcr die Beschleunigung auf der Viertelmeile und der 500-Meter-Strecke auf und schlug damit die gef\u00fcrchteten Konkurrenten BMW und Porsche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der von Carlo Abarth selbst eingesetzte Einsitzer basierte auf dem Formel-2-Modell des Vorjahres, mit verbesserter Aerodynamik (Front und Windschutzscheibe) und leistungsgesteigertem Motor: Er verf\u00fcgte \u00fcber 982 cm\u00b3 Hubraum, zwei Weber-40-Vergaser und zwei obenliegende Nockenwellen.
