Der 1,8-Liter-Motor des Golf 2 GTI 16V mit KKK-Turbolader kommt vorne und hinten zum Einsatz&nbsp; und beide Aggregate generieren eine Leistung von jeweils 326 PS.&nbsp; Die Pferdest\u00e4rken m\u00fcssen lediglich 1020 kg bewegen. Beide Motoren \u00fcber ein eigenes Hewland-Renngetriebe, also kann der Golf mit Allradantrieb oder alternativ mit Vorder- oder Hinterradantrieb bewegt werden. Das spartanische Cockpit verf\u00fcgt nur \u00fcber die notwendigsten Schalter und Instrumente, die auf nacktes Blech montiert sind. Es gibt zwei Starterkn\u00f6pfe, zwei Kraftstoffpumpenhebel, aber nur einen Drehzahlmesser. Der Schalthebel bet\u00e4tigt beide Getriebe im klassischen H-Modus. Der zweimotorige Golf f\u00e4hrt leicht im Zickzack, da die nicht perfekt synchron laufenden Motoren die Kraft ungleichm\u00e4\u00dfig verteilen. Die 19,99 Kilometer lange Strecke z\u00e4hlt 156 Kurven. Gestartet wird auf 2863 Metern \u00fcber dem Meeresspiegel und das Ziel liegt auf 4301 Metern H\u00f6he. Fahrzeuge mit Verbrennungsmotor verlieren in der d\u00fcnnen Bergluft etwa ein Drittel ihrer Leistung. Der Golf mit den zwei Herzen war Volkswagens Antwort auf die Allradautos von Audi und Peugeot. Am Ende siegte Walter R\u00f6hrl im Audi quattro Sport. Doch bei zwischenzeitlichen internen Messungen war Kleint im zweimotorigen Golf genauso schnell unterwegs, bis wenige Kurven vor dem Ziel das Gelenk der Vorderradaufh\u00e4ngung brach.
