Der Entwurf eines neuen Fahrzeugs wurde 1964 von Alfa Romeo Design unter der Leitung von Orazio Satta Puliga begonnen und insbesondere von Giuseppe Busso entwickelt.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Das Chassis bestand aus drei gro\u00dfen Rohren aus Aluminiumlegierung, die zu einem asymmetrischen &#8222;H&#8220; angeordnet waren. Ein r\u00f6hrenf\u00f6rmiges Chassis aus einem einzigen Magnesiumgeh\u00e4use war an der Vorderseite befestigt, w\u00e4hrend zwei &#8222;Arme&#8220;, ebenfalls aus Magnesium, mit dem Heck verbunden waren. In den Fahrgestellrohren waren Kraftstofftanks aus Gummi untergebracht. Die Struktur wog nur 55 Kilogramm, so dass das Leergewicht im fahrbereiten Zustand 580 Kilogramm betrug.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der Zweiliter-V8-Motor aus Aluminiumlegierung hatte vier obenliegende Nockenwellen, eine Einspritzanlage mit mechanischer Pumpe und eine Doppelz\u00fcndung. In der endg\u00fcltigen Version leistete er 270 PS. Die H\u00f6chstgeschwindigkeit des Wagens variierte je nach aerodynamischer Auslegung zwischen 260 und 300 km\/h.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Im Januar 1966, noch bevor der von Alfa Romeo entwickelte und gebaute Motor zum ersten Mal in Betrieb genommen wurde, wurde die Konstruktion des 33 (mit der Typenbezeichnung 105.33) von Giuseppe Luraghi an Carlo Chitis Autodelta vergeben, sehr zum Unmut der Alfa Romeo Ingenieure. In der Zwischenzeit begannen im Winter 1965 in Balocco die Tests mit einem fertigen Auto, das mit einem provisorischen Motor (dem 1600er Doppelnockenwellenmotor des TZ2) ausgestattet war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die Entwicklung des 33 war langwierig und kompliziert, vor allem wegen seines innovativen Fahrgestells, und 1967, dem Jahr seines Deb\u00fcts, endete mit dem Gewinn des Fl\u00e9ron-Bergrennens in Belgien.
