Der genietete, stromlinienf\u00f6rmige \u201eTank\u201c war eines der Fahrzeuge, die erstmals aerodynamische Erkenntnisse in den Motorsport brachten, genau wie der Voisin C6 Laboratoire im Jahr darauf. Zum ersten Auftritt kam es beim Gro\u00dfen Preis von Frankreich am 2. Juli 1923 in Tours an der Loire. Vor 300.000 Zuschauern zog die avantgardistische Konstruktion die Blicke auf sich. Was am stromlinienf\u00f6rmigen Type 32 spontan ins Auge fiel, war die von Flugzeugen inspirierte fl\u00fcgelf\u00f6rmige Karosserie \u2013 das Resultat von Bugattis \u00dcberzeugung, dass fortschrittliche Aerodynamik eine immer wichtigere Rolle bei der Steigerung der Leistung von Rennwagen spielen w\u00fcrde. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Obwohl der 32er auf dem Type 30 basierte, mit dem er etwa den 90 PS starken Zweiliter-Achtzylindermotor teilte, sorgten die Ponton-Karosserie, der relativ kurze Radstand und die schmale Spur daf\u00fcr, dass der Type 32 aussah wie kein anderer Rennwagen in der Startaufstellung. Der Wagen wies einige neuartige technische L\u00f6sungen auf. Das Rennen ging \u00fcber 35 Runden \u00e0 22,83 Kilometer auf \u00f6ffentlichen Stra\u00dfen, was einer Gesamtstrecke von knapp 800 Kilometern entsprach. Ernest Friderich kam als erster Bugatti-Pilot in sieben Stunden und 22,4 Sekunden bei einer Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit von knapp \u00fcber 112 km\/h auf den dritten Platz. Das Rennen in Tours blieb der einzige GP-Auftritt, da Bugatti sich zu der Zeit auf die Entwicklung des Typ 35 konzentrierte.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Direkter Nachfolger des \u201eTank\u201c war der Typ 57 G, ebenfalls mit einer stromlinienf\u00f6rmigen Karosserie und dem gleichen Spitznamen.
