Als der Brite Johnny Herbert am 23. Juni 1991 um 16 Uhr die Ziellinie des 24-Stunden-Rennens von Le Mans \u00fcberquerte und gewann, war das ein triumphaler Erfolg. Mazda war der erste japanische Hersteller, der das ber\u00fchmte Langstreckenrennen gewann und das mit einem ganz besonderen Motor, der die Fans an der Strecke mit seinem ohrenbet\u00e4ubenden Sound in seinen Bann zog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"810\" height=\"534\" src=\"https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lemans_1991_015_TM-810x534.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14001\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lemans_1991_015_TM-810x534.jpg 810w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lemans_1991_015_TM-300x198.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lemans_1991_015_TM-768x506.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lemans_1991_015_TM-120x80.jpg 120w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lemans_1991_015_TM.jpg 875w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 810px) 100vw, 810px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der siegreiche Mazda 787B hatte 362 Runden auf der ber\u00fchmten franz\u00f6sischen Rennstrecke zur\u00fcckgelegt und bei seinen 28 Boxenstopps hatte der Sieger-Mazda nur einmal \u00d6l nachgef\u00fcllt, die Bremsscheiben und -bel\u00e4ge gewechselt und die Front gewechselt. Abgesehen davon brauchte der 700 PS starke, von einem Vier-Rotor-R26B angetriebene 787B nur Kraftstoff und Reifen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Das Siegerauto teilten sich mit Herbert Volker Weidler und Bertrand Gachot und f\u00fcr dieses Trio von Nachwuchsfahrern war es ein weitgehend ereignisloses Rennen. Nach einem starken Start machte Weidler mit dem 787B vom 23. Startplatz aus Pl\u00e4tze gut, und um 18 Uhr lag die Nummer 55 bereits in den Top Ten. Zur Halbzeit des Rennens um 4 Uhr morgens lag der Mazda auf dem dritten Platz und drei Stunden vor Rennende lag der Mazda auf dem zweiten Platz, als der f\u00fchrende Mercedes-Benz einen Motorschaden erlitt und ausfiel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"810\" height=\"536\" src=\"https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lemans_1991_014_TM-810x536.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14002\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lemans_1991_014_TM-810x536.jpg 810w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lemans_1991_014_TM-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lemans_1991_014_TM-768x508.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lemans_1991_014_TM-120x80.jpg 120w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lemans_1991_014_TM.jpg 875w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 810px) 100vw, 810px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der Mazda \u00fcberquerte die Ziellinie als Sieger und damit war es der Hersteller aus Hiroshima, der mit seinem Kreiskolbenmotor den ersten Gesamtsieg einer japanischen Marke in Le Mans errang. Bereits 1992 sollte der Kreiskolbenmotor in Le Mans verboten werden, insofern war der Sieg 1991 die letzte Chance, mit diesem Antriebskonzept zu gewinnen. Mit einem vom Briten Nigel Stroud entworfenen Chassis war der Mazda 787B auch das erste Auto, das Le Mans mit Karbonbremsen gewann.
