Dessen Scuderia SSS Repubblica di Venezia beteiligte sich seit 1962 mit Porsche- und Ferrari-Rennwagen am internationalen Renngeschehen und konnte einige Achtungserfolge erzielen. Auch der legend\u00e4re Ferrari 250 GT SWB Breadvan von Giotto Bizzarrini und Piero Drogo entstand auf Anregung des Grafen. 1965 entwickelte der Rennstall mit dem Serenissima Jet 308 einen eigenen Sportprototyp mit einem eigens daf\u00fcr konstruierten Dreiliter-V8. Das Vollaluminium-Aggregat verf\u00fcgte \u00fcber zwei oben liegende Nockenwellen und zwei Ventile pro Zylinder. Mit Doppelz\u00fcndung und vier Weber-Vergasern leistete er knapp \u00fcber 300 PS.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dieses Triebwerk wurde 1966 an das McLaren-Team-Formel-1-Team geliefert. Bruce McLaren bestritt mit dem italienischen V8 vier Grand Prix und konnte im englischen Brands Hatch einen Punkt ergattern. Alf Francis wurde von ihm mit der Entwicklung eines Serenissima F1-Monoposto beauftragt. Als Basis verwendete Francis das Fahrgestell eines BRP, bei dem ein Colotti-Francis-Getriebe als tragendes Element des Fahrgestells verwendet wurde. Die Herstellung der Karosserie \u00fcbernahm Medardo Fantuzzi, dessen aerodynamische Kenntnisse sich in vorderen Fl\u00fcgeln und einem Heckfl\u00fcgel in der Motorabdeckung ausdr\u00fcckten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Das Fahrgestell wurde dann in Francis&#8216; italienischer Werkstatt mit dem Serenissima-V8-Motor best\u00fcckt.\u00a0 Das Chassis mit der Bezeichnung M1AF (nach Alf Francis) war in der zweiten H\u00e4lfte des Jahres 1967 fertig und wurde zun\u00e4chst in Monza als nacktes Chassis getestet.
