Benannt ist der kompakte Zweisitzer nach der Mille Miglia, dem wohl bedeutendsten Strassenrennen der damaligen Zeit. Chefdesigner Carlo Anderloni entwickelte 1948 die bet\u00f6rend klaren Formen f\u00fcr die Mail\u00e4nder Carrozzeria Touring. Diese war f\u00fcr ihre \u201eSuperleggera\u201c-Gitterrohrrahmen ber\u00fchmt und konnte auch mit Eleganz \u00fcberzeugen. Im Vergleich zum 125S, aus dem der 166 MM entwickelt wurde, ist die Barchetta (\u201ekleines Boot\u201c) ein Meisterwerk des einfachen Stils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die Form des ersten wirklich eleganten Ferrari war anders &#8211; kleiner und graziler &#8211; als die der Zeitgenossen und pr\u00e4gte das Design kommender Sportwagengenerationen auf der ganzen Welt. Und er stand erstmals f\u00fcr die Ambivalenz, die einen gro\u00dfen Teil der Faszination der Modeneser Marke ausmacht: die Grenzen zwischen Wettbewerbsfahrzeug und Stra\u00dfensportwagen l\u00f6sen sich auf und vereinen sich zu etwas ganz neuem.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der auf dem Turiner Salon im November 1948 vorgestellte Spider besa\u00df einen Radstand von 2200 mm und einen 140 PS starken Zweiliter-SOHC-V12. Clemente Biondetti holte 1948 den ersten Sieg von Ferrari bei der Mille Miglia und wiederholte den Triumph 1949.
