Der Sportprototyp war zun\u00e4chst f\u00fcr Rundstreckenrennen wie das 24 Stunden von Le Mans entwickelt worden. Nachdem der MS650 fast zwei Saisons lang  Rennen bestritten hatte, sollte er ab 1970 von einem Nachfolger ersetzt werden. Zweien der drei gebauten Exemplare wurde noch ein letzter Auftrag erteilt: sie sollten an der prestigetr\u00e4chtigen <a title=\"Tour de France Automobile\" href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tour_de_France_f\u00fcr_Automobile_1971\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tour de France Automobile<\/a> teilnehmen.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"810\" height=\"538\" src=\"https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/DSC_0144-810x538.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18218\" style=\"width:880px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/DSC_0144-810x538.jpg 810w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/DSC_0144-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/DSC_0144-768x510.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/DSC_0144-120x80.jpg 120w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/DSC_0144.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 810px) 100vw, 810px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zur Erf\u00fcllung des sportlichen Reglements mussten die Prototypen f\u00fcr die Stra\u00dfe zugelassen werden, was insbesondere die Aufh\u00e4ngung betraf. Das Auto stand h\u00f6her als normal und federte l\u00e4nger. Zudem wurden die D\u00e4mpfer und Federn weicher ausgelegt. Weiterhin wurden zus\u00e4tzliche elektrische L\u00fcfter eingebaut, um die K\u00fchlung im normalen Strassenverkehr zu verbessern. Zusatzscheinwerfer verbesserten die Ausleuchtung der Stra\u00dfe auf den Transfer-Etappen, die zwischen den Rennstrecken und Wettbewerben zur\u00fcck gelegt werden mussten und f\u00fcr den Beifahrer war ein Trip-Master verbaut. Da der Wagen nun mit zwei Personen an den Start ging wurde au\u00dferdem ein \u00dcberrollb\u00fcgel \u00fcber die gesamte Breite installiert. Die MS650 mit Tour de France-Spezifikation hatten zudem eine neu entwickelte Karosserie mit sehr kurzen \u00dcberh\u00e4ngen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der damalige Pilot Gerard Larrousse war voll des Lobes \u00fcber den MS650: \u201eDer Matra war sehr gut an die Stra\u00dfe angepasst, war sehr geschmeidig und einfach zu fahren.\u201c Larrousse bestritt die Tour de France 1971 mit dem Journalisten Johnny Rives als Beifahrer und holte den Sieg.
