Von 1991 bis 1993 trat der von Dan Gurney&#8217;s All American Racers gebaute Rennwagen in der Grand Touring Prototype (GTP)-Klasse der International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) GT Championship an. Und das \u00fcberaus erfolgreich: Der MKIII gewann 21 von den 27 Rennen in denen er am Start war und diese Dominanz f\u00fchrte zum R\u00fcckzug vieler Teams. Damit wird er zum Ausl\u00f6ser f\u00fcr das Ende der GTP-Klasse nach 1993.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Als der Toyota Eagle 1991 zum erstmal antritt, dominiert Nissan das geschehen und \u00fcberzeugte sofort.&nbsp; Grund f\u00fcr seine Entwicklung war, dass sein Vorg\u00e4nger Toyota HF89 nur noch wenig Potential f\u00fcr weitere Verbesserungen bot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"810\" height=\"456\" src=\"https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/1993-AAR-Toyota-Eagle-MKIII-5-810x456.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18447\" style=\"width:880px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/1993-AAR-Toyota-Eagle-MKIII-5-810x456.jpg 810w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/1993-AAR-Toyota-Eagle-MKIII-5-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/1993-AAR-Toyota-Eagle-MKIII-5-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/1993-AAR-Toyota-Eagle-MKIII-5.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 810px) 100vw, 810px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John Ward und der Aerodynamiker Hiro Fujimori entwarfen den neuen Mk III, der intern WFO 91 genannt wurde (Ward, Fujimori, andere 1991).&nbsp; Ward hatte f\u00fcr All American Racing im Laufe der Jahre immer wieder f\u00fcr sie gearbeitet und der Mk III war sein drittes Projekt f\u00fcr Gurneys Rennteam. Drino Miller von Toyota Racing Development (TRD) war f\u00fcr die Motorenentwicklung verantwortlich.&nbsp; Es wurde ein neues Motormanagementsystem entwickelt, das mit dem 16-Ventil-Vierzylindermotor zusammenarbeitet, der schon im HF89 zum Einsatz kam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Das Gesamtlayout des MKIII, basierend auf einem Kohlefaden-Monocoque, war auf maximale Effizienz angelegt und bot eine Vielzahl an aerodynamischen Konfigurationen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Das Vorurteil, ein kleiner Motor wie der 2,1-Liter-Turbo-Vierzylinder k\u00f6nne nicht die gew\u00fcnschte Art an zuverl\u00e4ssiger Leistung f\u00fcr einen Langstreckenwettbewerb wie die IMSA GTP sicherstellen, war schnell widerlegt. Die MKIIIs gewannen 21 von 27 Rennen &#8211; darunter den IMSA-Rekord von 14 Rennen in Folge &#8211; und bescherten Juan Fangio II und Toyota in den Jahren &#8217;92 und &#8217;93 zwei Gesamttitel.
