Den Startschuss f\u00fcr dieses Marketing-Projekt war ein Prototyp mit einer leichten Fiberglaskarosserie, aber ohne Motor, der die Zielrichtung zuk\u00fcnftiger Gestaltungen aufzeigte. Das Design stammte von Richard Arthur \u201eDick\u201c Teague, der schon bei General Motors, Packard und Chrysler als Automobil-Designer gearbeitet hatte, bevor er Design-Vizepr\u00e4sident der American Motors Corporation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teagues Kreativit\u00e4t spielte eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Gestaltung des Project IV, und der italienische Karosseriebauer Vignale brachte die Vision zum Leben. Dank der ausgefeilten Handwerkskunst der Italiener entstand der Prototyp innerhalb von 78 Tagen. Mit seinem schlanken, aerodynamischen und durch verdeckte \u201eA\u201c-S\u00e4ulen betonten Profil, bis hin zum \u201eRamble\u201c-Sitz im Fond, dokumentierte der Prototyp den Willen von AMC, die Grenzen des zeitgen\u00f6ssischen Automobildesigns auszuloten.
