Anders als bei den GR Yaris-Serienmodellen, bei denen ein frontmontierter Motor f\u00fcr alle Fahrphasen (Bremsen, Lenken, Beschleunigen) die Last auf den Vorderreifen konzentriert, was im Grenzbereich zu starkem Reifenverschlei\u00df und Untersteuern f\u00fchrt, setzt das Team hier auf einen Mittelmotor. Um das Frontantriebs-Verhalten grundlegend zu ver\u00e4ndern, entwickelte das Team eine vollst\u00e4ndige \u00dcberarbeitung von Struktur und Gewichtverteilung \u2013 mit dem Resultat, dass der Motor samt Getriebe hinter den Fahrersitz verlagert wurde und somit ein vollwertiges Mittelmotor-4WD-Layout zum Einsatz kommt.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Technisch basiert dieses Konzept auf dem kompakten Hochleistungsmotor G20E, der im Rahmen eines \u201eMultipathway Workshops\u201c im Mai vergangenen Jahres vorgestellt wurde und Teil der Strategie ist, den Verbrennungsmotor im Motorsportumfeld weiter zu optimieren. In Kombination wurden Radstand und Spurweite speziell angepasst, um das Fahrverhalten auf der Rennstrecke drastisch zu verbessern.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">W\u00e4hrend der Entwicklungsphase traten jedoch spezifische Herausforderungen auf: Ein Mittelmotor-Layout bringt nicht nur Vorteile beim Schwerpunkt und der Gewichtsverteilung, sondern erzeugt komplett Reaktionen bei Brems-, Lenksystem und dem dynamischen Verhalten \u2013 Toyota verzichtete daher bei der vorherigen Runde in Autopolis auf eine Teilnahme, um die Entwicklungsarbeit zu intensivieren. In den folgenden drei Monaten arbeiteten Fahrer, Ingenieure und Mechaniker eng zusammen, f\u00fchrten umfangreiche Testl\u00e4ufe durch und optimierten Motor, Karosserie und Chassis \u2013 nun ist das Team bereit f\u00fcr den Einsatz in Okayama.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mit diesem Einsatz verfolgt Toyota das erkl\u00e4rtes Ziel, durch Rennerfahrung ein kontinuierliches Feedback zu gewinnen und Technologien f\u00fcr Serien- wie Rennfahrzeuge weiterzuentwickeln.
