Mit Gregory Crewdson pr\u00e4sentiert das Kunstmuseum Bonn einen international bedeutenden Vertreter der narrativen Fotografie. Seine gro\u00dfformatigen, bis ins kleinste Detail arrangierten Aufnahmen bezeichnet Crewdson selbst als \u201eSingle Frame Movies\u201c. Angelehnt an die \u00c4sthetik des Kinos, verdichten sie die Handlung eines ganzen Films in einem einzigen Moment. Was davor geschah oder folgen k\u00f6nnte, bleibt offen. Gerade diese erz\u00e4hlerische Leerstelle erzeugt die eigent\u00fcmliche Spannung seiner Bilder. Auch der Produktionsprozess ist au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlich: \u00dcber Monate hinweg entstehen die Fotografien unter Beteiligung von teils mehr als hundert Personen f\u00fcr Casting, Kost\u00fcm- und Setdesign, Licht und Technik \u2013 vergleichbar mit den Abl\u00e4ufen gro\u00dfer Hollywoodproduktionen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Bonner Retrospektive bietet einen konzentrierten \u00dcberblick \u00fcber alle wichtigen Fotoserien des K\u00fcnstlers von den 1980er Jahren bis in die j\u00fcngste Gegenwart. Einen Schwerpunkt bildet die Serie \u201eAn Eclipse of Moths\u201c aus den Jahren 2018 bis 2019. Im Kinobreitwandformat thematisiert sie den gesellschaftlichen und wirtschaftlichen Niedergang der amerikanischen Provinz. Entstanden in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, spiegeln die Fotografien den industriellen Verfall einer ganzen Region. Marode Stra\u00dfen, verlassene H\u00e4user und sichtbare Armut zeugen von Verwahrlosung und Perspektivlosigkeit. Gleichzeitig kontrastieren eindrucksvolle Lichtstimmungen und leuchtende Farben die trostlosen Szenerien. Crewdson griff dabei mit gro\u00dfem Aufwand in reale Schaupl\u00e4tze ein und verwandelte sie in hochgradig inszenierte Bildr\u00e4ume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
