Dieser ist ein leichter offener Zweisitzer, der sowohl f\u00fcr den Alltagsbetrieb wie auch f\u00fcr die damals popul\u00e4r werdenden Clubrennen benutzt werden kann. Er hat ein nur 59 Kilogramm schweres Chassis, vordere Einzelradaufh\u00e4ngung und eine modifizierte Riley-Hinterachse. Ebenfalls von Riley kommt der 2,4-Liter-Vierzylinder mit Doppelnockenwellen und Doppelvergaser und 104 PS Leistung.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Das Konzept ist erfolgreich und zieht die Aufmerksamkeit des amerikanischen Rennfahrers Briggs Cunningham auf sich, der sich von Healey einen Silverstone mit Cadillac-Motor w\u00fcnscht. Donald Healey ist interessiert und reist mit der &#8222;Queen Elizabeth&#8220; in die USA, um mit der GM-Division \u00fcber die Lieferung von Motoren zu verhandeln. Auf dem Schiff trifft er den Amerikaner George Mason, Pr\u00e4sident der Nash Kelvinator Corporation, der ihn nach Detroit einl\u00e4dt. Mason gibt ihm zu verstehen, dass er f\u00fcr den Fall, dass Cadillac eine Lieferung ablehnt, einspringen will. Das Treffen mit dem Caddy-Chef Ed Cole verl\u00e4uft ergebnislos und Mason macht ein gutes Angebot: Motoren und Getriebe will er liefern, und dar\u00fcber ist er bereit, die Produktion auf Basis des Silverstone zu finanzieren.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kurz darauf entsteht der erste Nash Healey, ein kleiner Roadster im englischen Stil, mit Nash-Ambassador-Aggregat und -Hinterachse. Zwecks Anpassung an englische Vergasergr\u00f6\u00dfen wird der Zylinderkopf ge\u00e4ndert und in Aluminium gegossen. Zudem kommt eine sch\u00e4rfere Nockenwelle zum Einsatz, die die Leistung auf 125 PS erh\u00f6ht. Das Zweisitzer ist so gut, dass er 1950 den f\u00fcnften Platz in Le Mans belegt.<br>F\u00fcr 1952 schlie\u00dft Nash einen Vertrag mit Pinin Farina in Turin. Auch der Healey soll gestalterisch an die neue Nash-Linie angepasst werden, und so kommt es zur Neugestaltung. Es entsteht ein eleganter Sportwagen, dessen Karosserie jetzt nicht mehr aus Aluminium besteht bis auf Motorhaube und Kofferraumdeckel. Gleichzeitig wird die Leistung auf 140 PS erh\u00f6ht und die Radaufh\u00e4ngungen werden \u00fcberarbeitet.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selbst das domestizierte Design erweist sich als sportlich: 1952, wiederum in Le Mans, erreicht der amerikanische Zweisitzer in einer Lightweight-Ausf\u00fchrung den dritten Gesamtrang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1953 erscheint ein \u00fcberarbeiteter Roadster (gro\u00dfes Bild) sowie ein Coup\u00e9, der dem Nash Preise bei den ber\u00fchmten Italienschen Concours d&#8217;Elegance einbringt. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Allein das sichert dem eleganten Sportwagen nicht das \u00dcberleben.
