Kamm forscht an der Technischen Hochschule in Stuttgart, wo ihm ein Windkanal zur Verf\u00fcgung steht, in dem die Str\u00f6mungsverh\u00e4ltnisse an Autos in Originalgr\u00f6\u00dfe untersucht werden k\u00f6nnen. Auf Basis der Erkenntnisse baut er einige Versuchswagen, deren Heck wie ein abgeschnittener Tropfen aussieht. Das so genannte Kammheck ist aerodynamisch \u00e4u\u00dferst effizient, weil es die Luftverwirbelungen reduziert und sich auch positiv auf die Geschwindigkeit auswirkt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BMW plant 1940 die Teilnahme an der Mille Miglia und greift auf Kamms Forschungen zur\u00fcck. Auf der Basis eines 328 Roadster montieren die Bayern einen besonders leichten Gitterohrrahmen aus Elektron sowie eine aerodynamisch optimierte Aluminium-Haut. Unter die Haube kommt ein 136 PS starker Sechszylinder-Reihenmotor. Tests auf der Autobahn ergeben, dass das Kamm-Coup\u00e9 230 Stundenkilometer l\u00e4uft. Schneller war noch kein BMW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Das spricht f\u00fcr die Effizienz der Form, die gleichwohl keinen Sch\u00f6nheitspreis gewinnt. Die Kotfl\u00fcgel sind wulstig und das Heck ist plump. Im April geht das Werksteam nach Brescia, wo die Mille Miglia erstmals auf einem Dreieckskurs ausgetragen wird.
