Dieser Mustang entstand in der Fairlane-Gruppe unter der Leitung von Lee Iacocca, die neue Konzepte entwickeln sollte. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der Mustang 1 sollte unterhalb der Chevrolet Corvette angesiedelt werden und gegen die europ\u00e4ische Konkurrenz \u00e1 la MGB antreten. Er war das Produkt eines Designwettbewerbs, der zum Ziel hatte, einen kosteng\u00fcnstigen Sportwagen zu entwickeln, der ein jugendliches Publikum begeistern sollte und durch ein radikales Konzept Abstand zu den Wettbewerbern hielt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"810\" height=\"707\" src=\"https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/1962_Ford_Mustang_Prototype_14-810x707.jpg\" alt=\"Ford Mustang 1, 1962\" class=\"wp-image-6123\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/1962_Ford_Mustang_Prototype_14-810x707.jpg 810w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/1962_Ford_Mustang_Prototype_14-300x262.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/1962_Ford_Mustang_Prototype_14-768x671.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.enzo-und-ferdinand.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/1962_Ford_Mustang_Prototype_14.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 810px) 100vw, 810px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der Siegerentwurf, ein offener Mittelmotor-Zweisitzer mit dem Namen \u201eMustang 1\u201c, hatte einen knappen Plexiglas-Windschutz sowie einen integrierten \u00dcberrollb\u00fcgel. Technisch bot der Wagen Features wie eine Zweikreisbremssystem oder verstellbare Pedale sowie eine verstellbare Lenks\u00e4ule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Angetrieben wurde der kompakte Zweisitzer entweder mit einem 89 PS oder einem 109 PS starken V4-60-Grad-Motor mit 1600 ccm Hubraum. Das st\u00e4rkere Triebwerk war als Basis f\u00fcr eine Rennversion vorgesehen. Das Aggregat stammte im \u00dcbrigen aus Deutschland und trieb den damaligen Ford Taunus an. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dass der Sport bei der Entwicklung des Konzepts eine Rolle spielte, zeigt sich auch daran, dass der Prototyp beim Rennwagenbauer Troutman-Barnes im kalifornischen Culver City entstand. Die Karosserie aus Aluminium war aus einem St\u00fcck gefertigt und wurde ans Chassis genietet .
