Alfa-Romeo-Chefingenieur Vittorio Jano hatte die Aufgabe, einen Rennwagen gem\u00e4\u00df dem zu dieser Zeit revolution\u00e4ren Mittelmotor-Layout zu konstruieren.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Um das Projekt weitgehend geheim zu halten, beschloss Jano die Auslagerung eines Teils der Entwicklungsarbeit. W\u00e4hrend er selbst sich im Alfa Romeo Stammwerk Portello um den zuk\u00fcnftigen Zw\u00f6lfzylinder-Rennmotor k\u00fcmmerte, vergab er die Konstruktion der Karosserie an die Br\u00fcder Gino und Oskar Jankovits. Beide betrieben in Fiume \u2013 nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg unter den Namen Rijeka Teil von Jugoslawien \u2013 eine gro\u00dfe Werkstatt und hatten auch die finanziellen Mittel, den Geheimauftrag auszuf\u00fchren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Als Basis diente das modifizierte Chassis eines Alfa Romeo 6C 2300. Die gr\u00f6\u00dfte \u00c4nderung betraf die Position des Motors \u2013 der vorerst verwendete Reihensechszylinder war hinter dem Cockpit platziert. Diese Konstellation erm\u00f6glichte eine nur knapp \u00fcber einen Meter hohe Ponton-Karosserie mit einem Luftwiderstandsbeiwert von 0,23 \u2013 f\u00fcr die 1930er Jahre sensationell niedrig. Auch die in die Fahrzeugfront eingelassenen Scheinwerfer, das flach auslaufende Heck und der verkleidete Unterboden waren ihrer Zeit voraus. Das dreisitzige Cockpit mit der Fahrerposition in der Mitte und die Zweikreis-Bremsanlage mit einstellbarer Bremskraftverteilung verrieten den geplanten Einsatz im Rennsport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1937, als das Projekt das Prototypenstadium erreicht hatte, verlie\u00df Jano \u00fcberraschend Alfa Romeo. Die Verbindung zu Gino und Oskar Jankovits wurde gekappt. Die beiden Br\u00fcder bauten den halbfertigen Rennwagen zun\u00e4chst zum Alltagsfahrzeug um. Damit gilt der Alfa Romeo Aerospider als weltweit erster Sportwagen mit Mittelmotor. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg nutzten sie ihre Konstruktion, um aus dem inzwischen kommunistischen Rijeka nach Italien zu fliehen \u2013 der Legende nach unter Beschuss der Grenzposten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;In den folgenden Jahren verschlug es den Roadster erst in die USA, dann nach Gro\u00dfbritannien, schlie\u00dflich zur\u00fcck nach Italien, wo er sogar in Hellblau umlackiert wurde.
