Der Amerikaner Richie Ginther konnte den letzten Grand Prix der auslaufenden 1,5-Liter-Formel gewinnen \u2013 und wer wei\u00df, was m\u00f6glich gewesen w\u00e4re, wenn das Reglement nicht zu Ende gegangen w\u00e4re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mit dem S 800 brachten die Japaner die Hochdrehzahl-Philosophie auf die Stra\u00dfe. Zum vergleichsweise geringen Preis von 7750 Mark zeigte der Konzern Ende 1966 erstmals den Wagen als Coup\u00e9 und Cabrio in Hamburg. Aus einem schmalen Hubraum von 791 Kubikzentimetern holte der Winzling stolze 67 PS. Bei 7.570 Touren lag die Spitzenleistung an, gedreht werden konnte bis 11.000\/min und auch 12.000 Touren verzieh der kleine Motor klaglos. Hier zahlte sich Hondas Erfahrung im Motorradbau aus, wenngleich das Aggregat im Gegensatz zu den meisten Zweiradmotoren langhubig ausgelegt war.
